Step in Style is all about sharing and celebrating stylish people, male or female, whose style is impeccable, those who have mastered the art of being themselves. I consider styling the most basic form of creation. The art of figuring out what you love, consistently embracing it and letting it evolve just as you do is nothing short of magic. I have wanted to start this style series ever since I started my blog back in 2018. Here 2 years later, I’m finally doing it. In this first post, I interview Mwende Muli below, who I’ve not yet met in person but whose style, a celebration of Ankara fashion, I appreciate through what she shares on Instagram.
Introduce yourself
I am Mwende Muli, 23. A style Enthusiast. An of Applied Communication graduate. Currently, self-employed.
When did your interest in style develop?
My love for style grew on me. As an adolescent, my dad used to buy our clothes himself. He’d go shop for the family. I would say that’s the time I figured out what I didn’t like to wear, maybe. Fast forward to my uni days which were my more ‘formative years’ when it came to figuring out my style. This was because I had almost full control over what went into my wardrobe. My style has been evolving since then.
How would you describe your style?
Bold, Edgy, versatile
Who do you look up to for style inspiration?
I have no specific stylish person I look up to. Pinterest is the place if you need style inspiration. Ps: Gifts are given from God or whatever you believe in for a reason and sometimes we forget that just as much as we love walking in our “talents”…God also loves it when we invite him to what we love doing. It is part of intimacy. He appreciates it and blesses it. So yes my fly is from the man upstairs. Sometimes I be clueless lol.
Some advice for people who are trying to find their style?
It’s okay if you still haven’t figured out your style by now. Never be a slave to trends. Wear what you like, how you like it. Don’t be afraid to explore your creative side too. Be confident and do not apologize for your style.

Romeos Fashion Fix. A style icon! Her print and pattern mixing game is top-notch.
