Pancake Tuesday: 10 places to get your fix

Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday is a day in February or March that precedes Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. This day is known as Pancake Tuesday since it is the day Christians are to use fattening ingredients before getting ready to fast during lent. Some christian populations celebrate this day by eating pancakes. To get your fix today and the next coming days if you are not religious, here are 10 places in Nairobi to get pancakes(in no particular order)!

2. Java House
Java House is a great place for thick and fluffy pancakes. A single pancake with butter and syrup costs ksh.260 while 3 pancakes with butter and syrup and a choice of toppings such as bacon, ham or sausages go for ksh.720.
3. Cafe Deli
Cafe Deli is a well known place for flamboyant cakes with several branches in CBD. The Deli serves pancakes from ksh.320 with the option of additional pancakes at ksh.160 and caramelized bananas at ksh.120.
Cj's is a popular place in Nairobi for all meals that are Halal too. Cjs serve chocolate and strawberry pancakes at ksh.730 and original buttermilk pancakes at ksh.630.
5. Honey & Dough
Honey and Dough is very picturesque place in the middle of Westlands. The place serves three types of pancakes: original pancakes going for ksh800 that comes with red fruits, whipped cream, chocolate & caramel sauce, vegan pancakes at ksh850 that is a mix of flours, cashew vanilla cream, red berries, & maple syrup and gluten free pancakes at ksh850 that is a mix of gluten free flours, cashew vanilla cream, red fruit & drizzled with caramel & chocolate sauce. 6. Charlie's Bistro
Charlie's Bistro is another picturesque restaurant located in the heart of Nairobi cbd and also Kileleshwa. Charlie's serves crepes stuffed with mixed seasonal fruit, yogurt, honey and icing sugar at ksh.500.
7. Tinroof Cafe
Tin roof cafe located in Karen serves 3 signature gluten free crêpe style pancakes made with naturally sweet cassava flour and served with either lemon & sugar or fair trade honey at ksh650 only until 11.30am.
8. Mint and Salt Cafe
