fireworks with words 6 hacks to achieve your goals

2020 was a mess, but it was also the most eye-opening year for most if not all of us. We know better going into 2021. The best way to predict your future is by creating it. We can no longer allow ourselves to keep setting goals only to end up not achieving them. Here are 6 hacks I’m using that could help you achieve your goals by keeping the ball rolling towards your goals beyond the first month;

Have reasons for the goals you set

When you have a good reason for going for what you want, it is easier to convince yourself to do it. Have a vision and reason behind each goal and they will help on tough days. They could also motivate you when you are ready to give up.

Set a few goals at a time

Experts recommend setting 7 major goals in a year and 3 in a month. From his book, The Long View, author Mathew Kelly said, “Most people overestimate what they can do in a day, and underestimate what they can do in a month. We overestimate what we can do in a year, and underestimate what we can accomplish in a decade.” How true do you think this is? See how to set S.M.A.R.T.E.R goals.

Review your goals frequently

Have you ever made a resolution or set a goal and completely forgot about it the next week? I can relate. This is why it is important to schedule specific times to review your goals. I intend to review my goals monthly this year, so I can keep myself in check. Weekly is even better when you break your goals into monthly projects.

Create time to achieve your goals

You will always find time to do the things that bring you joy or fulfilment. When you desire your goals so bad, you will most definitely create time to accomplish them. It is easy to be busy but harder to be productive. Planning your days beforehand will increase your productivity and create time to act on your goals.

Do not give up on your goals

Napoleon Hill Quote - how to achieve goals

Today morning, I came across a quote that hit home by author Napoleon Hill, see pic above. I felt like this was a personal attack, I need to push past the roadblocks and resist despair. We all have sad stories but we need to drop the victim mentality and do something about it. The challenges are there to humble us and prepare us for success, so we have to keep pushing.

Reward yourself when you achieve your goals

Don’t forget to gift or treat yourself when you accomplish a goal or hit a milestone. We work too damn hard anyway.
